Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

July 11: Taking the Shield of Faith

“Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken…” Psalms 124:7

Read : Ephesians 6:10-18; Luke 22:29-32

Faith is the act of employing the Word of God as a weapon of warfare against the enemy to enforce victory in every area of life. And our enemy isn’t flesh and blood but principalities and powers, rulers of the darkness of the world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. Although Satan can use people to tempt or distract us, we must never allow ourselves to get into conflict with people. Whenever we do, our real enemy gains an advantage over us and defeat is inevitable. Faith is both a sword and a shield. It is both our weapon of attack and defense against the enemy’s attacks. A shield is designed to protect by deflecting the enemy’s missiles. But if we get distracted and fail to lift our shield, we could get hit. And because our adversary is a very intelligent being who understands us well, we can not afford to be vulnerable on the battlefield. Do a general check today: Is your shield in place? Do you believe God’s Word? Are you focused on Jesus or are you depending on a man somewhere to supply your needs? You will get disappointed if God isn’t your total trust. Are you struggling with people over your desires or are you delighting yourself in the Lord and doing spiritual warfare against the real enemy? Take your shield of faith today and protect yourself. You will not be overwhelmed, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
