Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

July 24: What?!

“Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.” Numbers 14:9

Read: Number 13:17-33; I Samuel 17:4-7

When Moses sent the 12 spies to go appraise the Promised Land, 10 out of 12 came back with a bad report. We are quick to judge their negativism, but if you stop to think about it, you would agree with them that it was humanly impossible not to be afraid. These giants were huge men. The Bible describes them as the children of Anak. The Anakim were one of the giant races. Goliath was one of their descendants. He was about 10 feet tall. Og, king of Bashan, was another giant; His bed was 13 feet long and 6 feet wide! If you saw them, would you care to take them on? The Promised Land was full of giants this size. No wonder the 10 spies were cowering in fear! However, God commended not the 10, but the 2 spies with a different opinion. You see, it’s all in the mind. Joshua and Caleb saw the giants through God’s eyes and the others, through human eyes. So, no matter how enormous your challenges may be, look through God’s eyes. Don’t ever say, “I’m only human.” Pay attention to the Word of God: “Ye are gods!” (Psalm 82:6).
