Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

July 23: Dare to Be Different.

“David said to Saul, ‘Your Majesty, no one should be afraid of this Philistine! I will go and fight him.’ ” I Samuel 17:32 (GNB)

Read: I Samuel 17:17-58; Proverbs 28:1

The enemy of greatness is sameness. Same is defined as identical; not different; exactly similar. Different, on the other hand, is defined as distinct; separate; not the same. We get the word distinction from distinct. Child of God, you are going to have to dare to be different. ‘Difference’ stems from a great mind. We need to acquire the mind of God; to see things from His view point. Stop being small-minded; it only leads to smallness and insignificance. Be enterprising: prompt to attempt untried schemes; quick to obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit, no matter how unconventional His directives may seem. Be resolute: Bold, firm, steady and constant in pursuing your purpose. The product of these is exploits. Exploits give you a seat among the great. David refused to join the rest of Saul’s army. He challenged Goliath and followed through with his confession. This distinguished him as the ‘giant-slayer.’ Again, remember, greatness is due recognition given to great achievement.
