He said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts……and I, I only, am left, and they seek my life, to destroy it.- I Kings 19:14

Somebody once said that a common practice of truly successful people is that they keep the main thing as the main thing in their lives. If you are hired to do a job, your employer would be expected to spell out your job description. And in that job description will be duties categorized as your primary assignments, and others designated as secondary assignments. Generally, your compensation will be determined by the attention you give to your primary duties. It is important that we don’t get so busy pursuing our secondary assignments that our primary assignment is left on the back burner. Elijah, in our text, got very busy doing things that had nothing to do with his primary assignment. As a child of God, your primary assignment is becoming God’s dwelling place, and bringing Him glory in all you do in life. Don’t get too busy pursuing the mundane chores of life, that you are not fulfilling your primary assignment. God doesn’t necessarily equate noise or activity with spirituality or godliness, and neither should you. Ask God today to help you keep the main thing as the main thing.
