John 5:1-9; I Samuel 17:24-37
“Behave yourselves wisely [living prudently and with discretion] in your relations with those of the outside world (the non-Christians), making the very most of the time and seizing (buying up) the opportunity.” (Colossians 4:5, AMPC)
We are instructed in the word of God to be wise and ‘buy up’ every opportunity God brings our way. Paul said to make the most of the time and seize the opportunity. That means we should not sit around twiddling our thumbs while we allow opportunities that the Lord brings our way slip by. We should be aggressive to pursue opportunities for service and investments. After taking the needed time for prayer, we should make deliberate plans and commitments to advance the purpose of God and further our personal, family, and kingdom causes when we are convinced it is God’s will and the right time. Remember that David was not invited to the war front when Goliath was running his mouth against the people of God. But when he arrived there to serve his brothers, he saw an opportunity. That opportunity was named Goliath! And because David seized that opportunity, his life was changed forever. He went from ‘forgotten shepherd-boy’ to national hero in a matter of a few days! And the Lord desires to do the same thing in your life.
Prayer: I seize my God-given opportunities and make accelerated progress in Jesus’ name. Amen!
