Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

January 16: One Day in God’s Court is Better

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple. – Psalm 27:4 (AMP)

Read:  Luke 10:38-42

If there was only one thing you were allowed to do for the rest of your life, what would it be? For many people it would be making money; for some it would be eating; and for many others it would be other things. But David said the one thing he would seek after and request is the presence of God. What a wise man! He understood that if he had God’s presence, then he had everything else. And notice, in God’s presence he isn’t looking to show up with a long list of his many needs, because he knows God has it all. Even though that, in itself, isn’t bad, David’s priority for seeking after God’s presence was to gaze upon Him, to meditate and inquire in His presence. Beloved, one day in God’s court is better than a million elsewhere. Personally, I wouldn’t take a million dollars, or accept a new better paying job, or begin another relationship, if the opportunity cost is giving up my time in God’s presence. What about you? What value have you placed on your relationship and fellowship with God? Nothing on earth compares with Him or the joy of His presence. Give Him praise today.
