“Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.” – Isaiah 58:14
Read: Psalms 16:5-11; Habakkuk 3:17-19
Another translation of the above text reads thus, “then you will find joy in the Lord. I will make you ride on the heights of the earth…” Beloved, when you find joy in the Lord, you are granted access to the highest places on the earth! It is important that we keep in mind that God is the only reliable Source of joy, strength, confidence and hope. However, rejoicing still has to be act of your will. Many times you may not feel like rejoicing. You may feel discouraged, despondent, distressed etc. What is really important is not how you feel but what you do. Prophet Habakkuk had every reason in the world to be sad. His fig tree was not blooming; his vines had no grapes; his sheep pen was empty etc. Simple translation: Nothing was going right. Yet he rejoiced as an act of his will. He knew the negative situation around him was subject to change. So he rejoiced in God. If you do the same today, God will lift you out, and you’ll ride the high places of the earth!
