Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

October 16:Higher Above the Name

“I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy loving-kindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” Psalms 138:2

Read: Proverbs 4:1-23; Joshua 1:8

In Luke 11:49, Jesus equated the wisdom of God with the word of God. The Bible says the only thing God has exalted above His Name is His Word. Every Word from the mouth of God is actually wisdom for us to live by. A life of excellence is impossible outside of the Word of God. When you retain the word of God in your heart, you retain His wisdom. And wisdom is comprehensive insight into the ways of God. Little wonder God told Joshua in the Old Testament that if he would keep God’s Word before himself always, and meditate on it day and night, while obeying it, he would deal wisely in the affairs of life. The Word of God is full of insight and revelation. It is filled with wisdom and counsel. So increase your commitment to it today. It is not so much as how many verses you read daily, but how much quality time you actually give it in reading, studying, meditation. Do you have a designated time daily when you hear the word? Do you have a designated time when you read it? Do you have a study Bible with a concordance and chain reference? Do you have a minister in your life that you receive the Word through, who helps you understand it better? Do you spend time in quietness and just think about and imagine the Word (meditation)? All these are essential to maximize the blessings of God’s Word in your life. Step up your commitment to the Word today. Begin to do the things enumerated above and watch yourself promoted in life. The Word will exalt you and bring you to your place of honor, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
