Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

October 13: Far Superior in Prominence

“He Who comes from above (heaven) is [far] above all [others]; he who comes from the earth belongs to the earth, and talks the language of earth [his words are from an earthly standpoint]. He Who comes from heaven is [far] above all others [far superior to all others in prominence and in excellence].” John 3:31 (AMP)

Read: John 1:1-5, 14; John 3:25-36; Ephesians 1:15-23; Ephesians 2:1-7

In our meditation text today, John the Baptist makes a very profound statement and I love it very much. We know that he was referring primarily but not exclusively to Jesus. If you are a Christian, then you a ‘little’ Christ and you are from above, too. John said whoever is from above is far superior to all others in prominence and excellence. He distinguishes people who are from above from those who originate from the earth by their language. People of the earth speak the language of the earth, but those from Heaven speak the language of Heaven. The secret to gaining prominence in life is living on earth by the same principles God lives by in Heaven. And these principles are revealed in His Holy Word. So child of God, don’t live your life by hearsay or popular opinion. Don’t ask your friends what they think about something when God has already told you in His Word what he thinks about it. You can conduct your marriage, business, ministry, finances, etc., by the principles of Heaven. And that requires a heavenly mindset to understand. Our minds must be renewed by the Word (Romans 12:1, 2) and our minds focused on heavenly rather than earthly realities. Do you want to be superior in life? Do you want to be prominent (successful)? Then esteem the Word of God in every area of life. Be like the Berean Christians (Acts 17:10, 11). Search the Word; study the Word; live the Word. Then you will be made noble and honorable before God. That is your portion, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
