What is man…For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor
– Psalms 8:4-5
Read: Genesis 2:1-17; Psalm 8: 3-9
Jesus came to establish a new covenant between us and the father. God’s original plan had been to create a beautiful world and bequeath it to man. God really did take time to make this world and He put in it, every precious thing. It functioned perfectly. God then created man and gave everything to him. In fact, the angels were so astonished and asked, “What is man that you are so mindful of him; you made him a little lower than God and put him over all the works of your hand.” So it had always been God’s plan that man would have his own kingdom, and his own wealth. Genesis gives us the story of creation. We see not only how God excitedly created the initial wealth for man, but also a plan for the continuity of that wealth, e.g. a seed already had potential to reproduce itself. Man’s original wealth not only included real estate, and livestock but also wisdom and authority to make it all work. Then, so that it would all make sense, God gave man an assignment; God knew that without purpose, man would be bored. And if you have ever wondered why we seem to always long for more, well, it’s because we were wired that way.
God has always wanted his own broad of wealthy, happy, fulfilled, prosperous children. Child of God, you are so special to Him. God never intended you to live in insufficiency. There is no need to be bashful; come boldly to the throne of grace with a determination to receive all that the Father planned for us.
