“let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand.” – Psalms 149:6
Read : Habakkuk 3:17-19; Hebrews 4:12
We have already discussed in previous devotions that faith is ruthless action. It is not a religious badge. It is an aggressive way of life that relies completely on the Word of God for direction and results. That is why the Scriptures state that faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Hence it is a good fight for us but a deadly fight for our enemies. It is only through faith that mountains are moved and giants slain. But faith is also a deadly weapon combination as described in Psalm 149. It includes (a) the high praises of God in one’s mouth; and (b) the double-edged sword of God’s Word in one’s hands. What are the high praises of God? Those are the praises that ring higher than the sound of opposition around us. You produce high praises of God when in spite of everything the enemy is throwing your way to discourage you, your confidence is unaltered, and your expression of joy and gratitude is in increasing dimensions! That kind of praise moves heaven on our behalf. The second part of the weapon is the Word of God; it is like a sword glued to our hands; one that we refuse to let go of. Use that powerful weapon today. Send up some high praises; hold fast to the promise and don’t let go. Your adversary is in trouble! Finally, you have trapped that idiot. There’s no way out for the devil. He’s a defeated foe forever in Jesus’ name!
