“But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken from her”– Luke 10:42
Read: Luke 10:38-42; Acts 17:10-12; Matthew 5:19
Most people in our society today are very busy with many different concerns of life. However, most successful people have learnt the wisdom of focus. There is a need to focus on God’s priorities for our lives and see other things as secondary. When Jesus visited the home of Martha, she was so overly concerned with the chore of cooking and making Jesus comfortable, that she became upset with her sister Mary for sitting at Jesus’ feet to learn from His teaching, while she labored alone in the kitchen. Jesus seized the opportunity to teach one of the most vital lessons of the Kingdom of God: a few things are needed to help us enjoy the fullness of God. However, they must all be secondary to God’s Word. Our ability to focus on the Word of God and play down the distractions of life, is a measure of our greatness in the sight of God. So we must get rid of everything that seeks to compete with the Word of God for our attention. From today, begin to relate with the Word as the one thing needful for your success and prosperity.
