“The word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It cuts all the way through, to where soul and spirit meet, to where joints and marrow come together. It judges the desires and thoughts of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 (GNB)
Read: Matthew 8:8, 13; 2 Corinthians 10:4-5; Psalms 107:20; James 5: 16-18
Many of us have heard of the term “in-operable tumor.” A person is said to have an inoperable tumor when the tumor has spread to surrounding structures in his body; removing the tumor might mean cutting into essential organs of the body thereby causing death. So, when a surgeon finds one of these kinds of tumors, he closes up his patient and declares his patient “in-operable.” The problem is, in-operable often translates to “in-curable,” meaning certain death of the person.
Child of God, you may find yourself in a big tangled web of challenges; so tangled that you feel that if you touch any of the pieces of the puzzle, your whole life will fall apart. I want to introduce you today to the most powerful weapon that exists in the universe; the Word of God. It is not only powerful, but extremely precise. The Bible says, “For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12 AMP). This lets us know that the Word of God is sharper that the surgeon’s scalpel and more precise than a laser beam. When we learn to use God’s Word in prayer, our lives can start to have meaning again. God’s word will go to the root of the problem and get you out of your tangled mess. Stop praying repetitive, meaningless prayers. Start using relevant, Holy-Spirit-inspired scriptures to tackle your problems. Again, it is time to purchase a good concordance and get down to the business of effective fervent prayer. God will help you out in Jesus’ name. Amen.
