Now therefore if you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people… – Exodus 19:4
Read: Job 23:10-14; Hebrews 6:13-20
In yesterday’s devotional, we learnt that God’s command is one of the 3 most important components of the covenant. It is very important, child of God, that instead of making assumptions and guesses, we actually set out to understand how God’s covenant works. The other 2 important components of the covenant are: Keeping the way and the fulfillment of the promises. As is to be expected, most of us focus more on the promises than on the command and keeping the way. The covenant won’t work if we choose to just stand on one of its components. That is why a lot of times prayers are not answered, breakthroughs don’t materialize, healings don’t manifest, and the list goes on. Yes, I know that sometimes we may not fully understand what is happening, even though we’ve done everything right. But that is rarely the case. God operates on principles, not on impulse. Most of the time, we can tell what He will do based on His Word. He and His Word always agree! I believe the covenant is working for you. So take the time to always find out God’s commands and how to obey them before digging out His promises and rattling them off. Just about every promise in the Book carries conditions required for their fulfillment. Do you believe God for some blessing or the other in your life today? Then I challenge you to work the covenant. Remember, God’s covenant is the strongest thing on the earth today. Heaven and earth may pass away but the covenant is here to stay. I see the covenant working for you today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
