Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

Day 25: I Fear God

Genesis 39:1-9; Job 28:20-28; Psalms 111:1-10; Isaiah 33:6; Hebrews 13:1-8.

“And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God.” – Genesis 42:18

A passionate commitment to pleasing God in everything we do in our lives, is the foundation of all godly wisdom. Walking in the fear of the Lord will keep the presence of God close, and everything that God’s grace supplies will abound around us. Growing in the spirit of wisdom is practically impossible without a commitment to living in the fear of the Lord. The Lord Jesus Christ said (John 8:29) that the Father and His presence would never leave Him alone because He always did those things that pleased Him. When we walk in the fear of God constantly committed to pleasing God in our daily lives, in everything that we do, we grow in wisdom. The fear of the Lord is His treasure. It is the fear of God that births the wisdom of God in greater dimensions in our lives. The treasure of God contains everything we need for life and godliness. Peace, grace, joy, healing, promotion, favor, etc. are all in that treasure, but so is wisdom. Many years ago, a powerful scripture on the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 14:26, 27) radically elevated the level of my confidence in God, and that confidence produced great boldness and assurance that fueled the pursuit of my purpose and vision. When you walk in the fear of the Lord, you fear no one and you fear ‘no-thing.’ The writer of the book of Hebrews said, “We take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm…what can man do to me?” That confidence was seen at work in the life of Joseph when he refused to yield to the pressure from Potiphar’s wife. Even though he realized she held all the power over him and could literally destroy his future, he also realized that his fear of God, and the confidence that he had in God’s protection would restore and redeem whatever Mrs. Potiphar succeeded in destroying. Follow the fear of the Lord today, commit to pleasing God in everything you do, and the seed of God’s wisdom in you will grow exponentially. The Lord is your Helper!

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for helping me walk and grow in the fear of the Lord, today. I commit to pleasing you in all that I do. Please help me live a life of integrity that you can bless. Help me be a worthy representation of you both in public and in private. I receive the confidence that flows from righteous living. And I give you the glory and praise. In Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen!
