“Who is like the wise man? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man’s wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his countenance is changed.” – Ecclesiastes 8:1 AMP
I am reminded today of a very simple melodious song we used to sing several years ago in traditional African Pidgin English. “People they ask me say, wetin dey make you shine… I just dey tell them say, na Jesus dey make me shine. I dey shine I dey shine I dey shine, I dey shine I dey shine shine shine… I just dey tell them say, na Jesus dey make me shine!’ Simply put, the song says people can’t but notice there’s something different about me! And when they do ask me what is responsible for my shining appearance, I quickly tell them it’s all because of Jesus! Glory to God! The Bible says wisdom makes the face shine, and the wise will shine as the stars! As a child of God, when you put on the garment of God’s wisdom and walk in the fulness of your covenant with God, the glory of God will be seen upon you. One of the implications of the popular command by Prophet Isaiah when God commanded His people to ‘Arise and Shine’ is that we should put on wisdom and shine for God. The wisdom of God made Stephen’s face shine like an angel’s when he was delivering the truth of the gospel to his unenlightened audience. Joseph was shining at his coronation when all his ex-inmates, Potiphar and his wife and family, and everyone who previously knew Joseph as an imprisoned slave, saw him riding in Pharaoh’s chariot, wearing a gold chain, fine linen and having on the king’s ring! What a glory! What a shine! Your own day of coronation is just around the corner too! I know this for a fact because the Word of God promises the glory of God will be seen upon you. And when people ask you how your status changed in such a ridiculous manner, you’ll be singing our song too. “I dey shine I dey shine I dey shine…I just dey tell them say, na Jesus dey make me shine…!” God’s wisdom will make you shine like the stars. Amen!
Prayer: Thank you, Father, for putting the shine of your wisdom upon my life. Thank you for making me the light of the world and the salt of the earth. Thank you for helping me engage with your wisdom at a higher level. I give you the glory and the praise. In Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen!
