Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

August 3: The Plague of Darkness

“Who is blind but my servant…this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses…”Isaiah 42:19, 22

Read:  Exodus 10:21-23; II Kings 6:15-20

Darkness is a plague, an evil. Wherever darkness exists, light is absent and vice-versa. Darkness is the realm where Satan and his hosts exercise ruler ship. That’s why he is called “the ruler of darkness.”  Darkness is the root of every ignorance, sin, confusion, affliction, sickness, poverty and destruction. Darkness is blindness. It prevents people from seeing or receiving God’s provisions. That’s why the prophet in one of our texts above prayed that his servant’s eye be opened. That servant was deceived because he couldn’t appreciate the true nature of his situation. And that is why it is dangerous to be in ignorance. You are kept from the breakthrough that has already been prepared for you until you get a hold of God’s light. Apostle Paul informs us (II Corinthians 4:3, 4) that Satan’s strategy is to keep people in bondage through darkness. But thank God we have been delivered and now walk in the light (I Peter 2:9). Let us boldly break the yoke of darkness over our lives and those of our relatives today.
