Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

Day 28: Wisdom And The Covenant

Haggai 1:1-11; 2 Peter 2:6-10; Romans 12:1-3; Genesis 13:1-18.

“And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.” – Genesis 24:1

Several years ago, the Lord spoke to me from the Book of Haggai 1 and asked me a very important question. I want to ask you that same question today: ‘How do you intend to live your life; by covenant or by convenience?’ You may think anyone would have an accurate answer to that question. However, we must take stock of our lives and take a critical look at how we make our decisions and conduct our affairs in life. In the Book of Haggai, the Bible describes people who did not walk in the wisdom of God, so they lived by their conveniences rather than by the covenant of God. It is the wisdom of God that directs us to pay close attention to the principles of the Word of God and arrange our lives accordingly. Whenever we fail to do that, we separate ourselves from God’s best and we cannot enjoy the blessings of a fruitful life that God has planned for us. I know you are probably familiar with the story of Lot, Abraham’s nephew in the book of Genesis. Lot ‘conveniently’ lifted his eyes and chose to go toward Sodom because it seemed like a prosperous land. He never took the time to ask what God wanted him to do. Abraham on the other hand was covenant-minded and he entered into God’s rest by allowing God and the covenant to dictate his choices. Lot went from one trouble and pain to another. Sorrow piled on sorrow for him even though he was a righteous man. He lost his wife, his estate, his joy, his peace, and the godly destiny that was his rightful inheritance. Then he was run out of the city of Sodom with nothing to show for his labor over many years. Abraham on the other hand became God’s covenant friend and was blessed in all things. Child of God, if you want to be blessed in all things like Abraham, then engage the wisdom of God today and strengthen your covenant with God. Let God’s Word direct you. Allow your covenant to take priority in your life. Get rid of convenience living. Then believe God that His Word will bear fruits that last in every area of your life.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your everlasting covenant. I choose to strengthen my covenant with you today and give it first place in all that I do. I commit to follow the directives of your Word and follow the precepts of your wisdom in every area of my life. I give you glory and praise, Lord. In Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen!
