Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

Day 27: When You Are Led, You Are Ahead

Ecclesiastes 10:1-15; Romans 8:12-17; Proverbs 16:1-9.

“The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.” – Ecclesiastes 10:15

Do you know where you are going and how to get there? Our theme scripture today tells us that when we don’t know where we are going or how to get there, our best efforts will be fruitless and everyone around us will be frustrated just as we are. A few verses prior, the writer of Ecclesiastes says, “Using a dull axe requires great strength, so sharpen the blade. That’s the value of wisdom; It helps you succeed.” Wisdom is being led by the Holy Spirit and having clarity of direction in life. Have you known people like I have over the years who seem to be just going all the time, exerting a lot of strength and always seeming to be doing so much, but achieving very little? Constantly changing course and making decisions at a rapid rate, but a closer look reveals that they are just spinning their wheels and usually going nowhere. Somebody once said, “Don’t allow other people’s dysfunctions to become your emergency.” Oh! I have known a lot of situations like these. But recently the Holy Spirit impressed these words upon my heart, “When you are led, you are ahead.” A representative of an organization that was doing some very important work for us once said to me, “Wow, you seem to be ahead of everything!” And when I heard that I laughed. It is such a joy to be led. Wisdom is profitable to direct, and when you are a man or woman of wisdom, you lean very heavily on the leading of the Holy Spirit and will be blessed by the superior fruits it produces. Unfortunately, I have also dealt with the disappointments, failures, delays, missed opportunities, and miscarriages that resulted from not being led, or not readily, willingly, and proactively yielding to the leading of the Holy Spirit. You can be ahead of everything in life, and sometimes while people are spinning their wheels trying to find out the right way, you can be out there making progress and achieving your goals, not because you are smarter or have more education or any such things, but because you are led by the Holy Spirit. You have found the way to the city. Wisdom has made you sharp. The people around you rejoice for the blessings of God’s direction. Be led today, put on the garment and spirit of wisdom, and you will find yourself way ahead of everything. Amen!

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for leading me today by the Holy Spirit. Because I am led, I am ahead. I know where I am going and how to get there. The Holy Spirit has free access to work in my life and I make room for the wisdom of God. Show me your way today. Help me arrive at the destination you have ordained for me. I give you praise, Father. In Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen!
