Isaiah 48:16-18; James 3:13-18; Proverbs 3:11-18.
“Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.” – Jeremiah 6:16
Beloved, humility is required to obtain the wisdom of God. The Bible says God gives more grace to the humble (James 4:6). The one thing that often stands between most believers and the wisdom of God they need at the moment is usually a lack of humility. I remember that a few years ago I was involved with certain individuals in a different country from where I resided, and was attempting to help them solve a situation that had confounded them for many years. Now, everything seemed very easy to me when they shared what the problems were. I was immersed in the wisdom of God and could see the way out of the gridlock they were dealing with. Unfortunately, they couldn’t see what I was seeing. They assumed my approach was too simplistic, perhaps because I resided in a different part of the world, or perhaps because I did not fully realize the depth of the issues and how complicated they were. It soon became clear to me that their biggest issue was a lack of humility. The instructions of wisdom must be received and embraced in a humble heart. No matter how difficult the problem you are confronting today, somebody somewhere has dealt with it before, and they have come out victorious. You too will break out if you clothe yourself with humility and receive the wisdom of God. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you humble yourself before God so you can receive what He has prepared for you in this season. ‘More of Jesus and less of me.’ Say that and receive greater grace today!
Prayer: Precious Holy Spirit, you are the Spirit of all Grace. I humble myself before you today. More of Jesus and less of me. I receive greater Grace today. I thank you for it, Father. In Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen!
