Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

October 8: Walking In The Name

“For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.” –  Micah 4:5

Read: I Kings 18:22-39; Psalms 91:1-15; Psalms 20:1-8; Matthew 6:9-13

One of the surest ways to excel in life is to walk in the name of the Lord, because God’s name is excellent; and when you walk in something that’s excellent (high above every other), you will excel. In fact, in one of the most powerful Psalms of the Bible, Psalms 91, God says in vs. 14 & 15, “…Because he has set his love upon me, I will deliver him; I will lift him on high because he has known my name…” Let me ask you 2 very important questions today: Do you know His name? (i.e. do you have a revelation of His name? Remember, it is not enough to just know about that name like the seven sons of Sceva in Acts 19; they knew about the name, but that demon possessed man beat them black and blue because they really did not have a revealed or experiential knowledge of the name). Secondly, are you walking in the name? To walk in the name is to conduct your affairs in the name; to hallow or worship or respect the name; to pray in the name; to boast in the name; to preach about the name; to exalt and magnify the name; to use authority in the name; to bow before the name; to trust in the name etc. The prophet Elijah called upon that name and trusted in it. David used 5 stones that represented the name (J-E-S-U-S); Psalms 9:10 says, “they that know thy name will put their trust in thee….” Do you trust God’s name more than you trust naturally apparent channels of help (Ps 20:1-8)? Psalms 124: 8 says, “Our help is in the name of the Lord”; Malachi 3:16 says, “there is Book of Remembrance in Heaven for people who think on His name.” I see God setting you on high today. I see you blessed today. As you walk in the name of the Lord, He will cause you to ride the high places of the earth. The spirit of excellence is manifest in your life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
