Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

May 8: Wax Great by the Word

“And ye said, Behold the Lord our God hath shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice out of the midst of the fire…” – Deuteronomy 5: 24

Read: Deuteronomy 5:22-29; Genesis 12:1-4

The secret to the great success of the patriarch Abraham was his passionate devotion to God and His Word. When God spoke to Abraham while still in the secure confines of his father’s house, he simply obeyed God and became heir of His covenant blessings. God’s greatness and glory are carried in His Word. And when those words become embedded in a man or woman, greatness and glory emerge on their lives. In Psalm 138:2 we are told God has magnified His Word above all His Name. And that is the same way He magnifies us when we esteem His Word above everything else. Webster’s dictionary explains ‘wax great’ as “to increase, to grow gradually larger, become more numerous, and increase in strength, intensity and volume.” Abraham and Isaac became all that and more just by obeying God’s voice and keeping His instructions. We are bound to inherit the same blessings if we follow in their footsteps. You begin to wax great from today in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
