Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

August 21: Know Your ‘Equipment’

“Study to show thyself approved unto God a workman …not to be ashamed.”

II Timothy 2:15

Skill is an invaluable asset. You may be provided with everything needed to achieve success but still end up a failure because you lack skill. Imagine a soldier on the warfront provided with all the training necessary to fight the enemy. He may be supplied with everything needed to disgrace his opponent, but he will be the one disgraced without the necessary skill in the use of his supplies. You can train yourself to be a marksman that never misses his target by developing retentive knowledge and proper application of the Word of God. That was David’s advantage over the king and army of Israel when they faced Goliath. It was Jesus’ advantage too when the enemy showed up to attack Him in the wilderness. Jesus had given time to reading, hearing, meditating and memorizing the Word. And when the opportunity came, He applied it appropriately on the spot! He did not have the privilege of going back home to search for the appropriate responses. Begin from where you are today. Start training your mind to memorize Scriptures. Then make a habit of speaking it. You will not be ashamed when challenges come.
