Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

August 15: Over Troubled Waters

“For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.” Luke 21:15

Read: Isaiah 49:2; Hebrews 4:12; Revelations 1:16

The Word of God is our ‘bridge’ over the troubled waters of life. As we press on in on our destiny, we encounter challenges that demand a response from us. Most of the time, because we are not well prepared for these challenges, victory does not come as quickly and as easily as it should. But when we continually arm ourselves in God’s Word, then we enjoy successive victories regardless of how or where the enemy attacks us. The Word comforts us; The Word empowers us; The Word delivers us; The Word motivates us. Truly the Word of God is our ‘bridge’ over the troubled waters of the world around us. Are you going through a difficult bend in life right now? Be encouraged. Turn to the Word. Once you receive the Word from the Spirit, make it a habit to speak it out loud. Go over them again and again till you know them by heart. In other words, memorize scripture. Then speak them out loud over and over again.

This has two effects. First, what comes out of you immediately reveals what is in you. Satan is trying to gain entrance into your heart to make a home for himself in there. If at the door, you speak the Word, it shows that you are filled with the Word. He cannot dwell with the Word. It is an effective deterrent to the enemy. Secondly, the Word of God in your mouth is an extremely sharp sword. It is able to shred the enemy into pieces. Don’t just know it in your heart. Speak it out LOUD!
