Imparting life to the nations, one person at a time

April 16: On Eagles’ Wings

“Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.” Exodus 19:4

Read:Deuteronomy 32:1-14; Exodus 19:1-25

God wants to take you on a flight of destiny. He compares Himself to a great eagle in our text today. Notice that God never compares Himself to creatures like the chicken or lizard or dog, etc. but He always compares Himself to majestic creatures like the eagle, and the lion. That is why you and I need to see ourselves and comport ourselves in life just like our Father does. Chickens are fearful, and they eat dirt! I have heard many Christians compare themselves to the worms of the earth, thinking they are humble when they sound that way. But God doesn’t see us as worms. He sees us as little eagles, and lion cubs! Jesus is referred to as the Lion of the tribe of Judah! It is important that we understand God does not want to control us, but His plan is to play a major role in leading us on the journey to our final destination. Our text begins by saying God found us in the wilderness, wandering around aimlessly, and then adopted us as the apple of His eyes! We are so special. However, God does not just want to protect us, but he wants to challenge us and help us discover what we are capable of doing in life. So many times, He stirs up our nest and carries us on His wings, teaching us to fly. His desire is that we will become like Him; that we will begin to ride on the high places of the earth; that we will become distinguished and find dignity and success in life. Oh what a great destiny each of us have in God! I pray for you today that you will not crawl around life like a worm or an ant eating dirt, but that you will discover the essence of your creation, and ride on the high places of the earth like God wants you to. The good news is you don’t have to struggle to make it happen. God is already carrying you on Eagles’ wings. Just relax and enjoy the journey. Your pilot is better than the best pilot in the universe. He will carry you safely, and settle you in your land of dignity and success. Praise God!
